The Port of Lisbon is present at Seatrade Cruise Global, the world's largest event in the cruise industry, taking place from April 8th to 11th at the Miami Beach Convention Center in the USA, under the theme "The Evolution of Cruising".
This marks the 25th time that the Port of Lisbon has attended this event and the 18th consecutive time participating as part of a national space under the Cruise Portugal brand, where the ports of Leixões, Setúbal, Portimão, Azores, and Madeira, as well as various economic agents, are also represented.
National participation in this fair will allow exploration of different business areas, such as port and destination developments, cost control strategies, and sustainability advancements, in a phase of recovery and resumption of the rapid growth of the industry.
For the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Lisbon (APL), Carlos Correia, "Being present at the industry's main event is of utmost importance, at a time when the cruise industry is demonstrating its resilience, vitality, and capacity for innovation, despite significant challenges. The industry's vision, focused on environmental sustainability, positions the cruise segment for a promising future, and that is the future intended for Lisbon."
"In this sense, APL has been developing a series of actions aimed at decarbonizing cruise activity towards sustainability, examples of which include the Shore-to-Ship Electric Power Supply project at the Eastern Zone Terminals and at the Lisbon Cruise Terminal, the status of which will be presented at this fair," Carlos Correia emphasizes.
For this year, sustainability and regulation, decarbonization, artificial intelligence, and technological innovations are the main themes of the Seatrade Cruise Global program. This event boasts over 10,000 registrations from various industry stakeholders, cruise companies, destinations, shipyards, companies, and suppliers, arranged in 600 exhibitors, over 80 cruise lines, and thousands of visitors from 120 countries.
The Port of Lisbon Administration is represented at the largest international cruise fair by Administrator António Caracol and the person responsible for the cruise area, Ana Lourenço.
