On both banks of the Tagus river, in the jurisdiction area of APL, S.A. there are beaches, namely in the municipalities of Oeiras, Alcochete, Almada, Barreiro and Seixal.

Its sphere of intervention in these places includes licensing the occupation of the beach facilities, authorization to hold events and the safety conditions inspection of those places, the posting of official or useful information for bathers and the preparation of bathing seasons with the other competent authorities in this matter.

Oeiras

In Oeiras, beaches are used by many bathers in the bathing season, also presenting users throughout the year.

The beaches of Torre, Santo Amaro de Oeiras, Paço de Arcos, and Caxias are the only beaches in the municipality identified as bathing waters and qualified for bathing. During the bathing season, these beaches are covered by a water quality monitoring program, under the responsibility of the Portuguese Environment Agency-ARH Tejo e Oeste.

In 2020, these four beaches received the "Blue Flag Award".

The remaining beaches of the municipality, namely Algés, Cruz Quebrada and Praia dos Pescadores in Paço de Arcos are not recommended for bathing, as they have not yet been identified as bathing waters or qualified for bathing. In 2020, Praia dos Pescadores in Paço de Arcos was inaugurated as 'Pet Friendly'.
