Visit of a delegation from Hainan Province to the Port of Lisbon
During the month of November, the Port of Lisbon received a visit from a delegation from the Province of Hainan, China. This visit was part of the delegation's trip to Portugal to exchange experiences with entities responsible for the areas of transport and logistics in Portugal. The visit also had as its mission the creation and development of cooperation opportunities between the Port of Lisbon and Hainan.
This island province has a strategic geographic location and is also classified as a Special Economic Zone. It is currently developing a Free Trade Port, a project to be completed and fully implemented in 2025. This free trade port will put into practice economic policies that will extend to the entire island, with the support of 11 specifically designated economic and industrial parks.
The delegation included representatives from the transport ministry of Hainan Province, Haikou Port Administration, Hainan Harbor & Shipping Holdings, Hainan Harbor & Shipping International Port, Hainan Logistics of Harbor & Shipping Co and Cosco Shipping.
