Ship "Jamie S" Begins its Maiden Voyage at the Port of Lisbon
The new GS Lines ship embarks on its maiden voyage today [July 9] in Lisbon, heading to the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Built in 2008, it is 129.9 meters long, 20.6 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 7,545 and a capacity to transport 698 TEU. The "Jaime S" is a twin ship to the "Rebecca S," also owned by the Sousa Group, and its name is a tribute to the father of the group's founder and CEO. Having departed from the shipyard in Cádiz, the vessel is operating today [July 9] at the Lisbon Multipurpose Terminal. To mark this voyage, APL was on board, and commemorative plaques were exchanged with the ship's captain, Ana Lucia Melim, with the ceremony also attended by PMAR, the ship's shipping agent.
