Port of Lisbon regains OOCL service to South America

The return of OOCL to the Port of Lisbon was marked today with the arrival of the container ship Lady Jane, the first vessel of the EEX-Europe East Coast South America Express service. This port call is part of the new service to South America that commenced in the last quarter of 2023, jointly operated by two other carriers, COSCO and ONE.

The availability provided by this connection reaffirmed the position of the Port of Lisbon as an export platform for national companies, as well as for other European markets that may utilize feeder services, benefiting from the advantages that this route offers in connecting to South America.

Cargo traffic from the Port of Lisbon to Brazil amounts to approximately 1.5 million tons, with key export products including olive oil, wine, fruit, and canned goods.

The vessel Lady Jane, which called at the Alcântara Container Terminal, leased to Yilport Liscont, is a container ship measuring 294.5 meters in length and has a capacity of 5000 TEU. Prior to Lisbon, it called at the ports of Hamburg and Antwerp and will proceed to Algeciras before heading to the port of Santos in Brazil.
