Port of Lisbon hosts the 19th AIVP World Conference on Sustainability in Ports and Cities
From November 27th to 30th, Lisbon will host the 19th World Conference of AIVP – Association Internationale Villes et Ports, with the theme “Open Piers: Steering flows between people, planet and port cities”. The event, co-organized and hosted by the Port of Lisbon, will bring together experts and global leaders to discuss the future of port cities and their importance in global sustainability.
The opening ceremony, on November 27, at the Champalimaud Foundation, will feature speeches by Carlos Correia, Port of Lisbon president, by Edouard Philippe, president of AIVP and former French Prime Minister, by Carlos Moedas, Lisbon’s mayor, and Pedro Patacho, councilor for Oeiras municipality.
Over the course of four days, topics such as the impact of geopolitical tensions on trade flows, the energy transition, blue economy and environmental conservation will be addressed. The conference will also discuss solutions for the socio-cultural integration of ports, innovative governance and the challenges posed by climate change.
The sessions will take place at Gare Marítima de Alcântara, Lisbon Cruise Terminal, Champalimaud Foundation and other emblematic locations. This is the second time that Lisbon hosts this event, being the first the 2004 edition.
