Port of Lisbon Hosts ABTO Bulk Terminals 2023
The event takes place on October 25th and 26th
The ABTO Bulk Terminals Annual Conferences 2023 will be held on October 25th and 26th at the Port of Lisbon, as part of the celebration program for its 136th anniversary. This event is organized by ABTO - Association of Bulk Terminals Operators and brings together various representatives involved in the transportation, storage, and trade of bulk solids in Portugal.
The first day of the conferences will feature the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, and the President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Lisbon, Carlos Correia, in the Opening Session panel.
This year's edition aims to outline the scenario of bulk solids markets, with a program focused on practical solutions for terminal operators to improve safety, streamline operations, and ensure environmental protection, addressing some of the sector's major concerns.
The Port of Lisbon offers excellent conditions for handling all types of bulk solids. From the agri-food sector, an important segment with a storage capacity of over 420,000 tons, serving markets for oilseeds, edible oils, and biodiesel, to the trade of clinker and cement, served through a dedicated terminal with good river, road, and rail access. The cargo handling capacity for the steel industry exceeds seven million tons per year.
For the President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Lisbon, Carlos Correia, "The excellent location of the Port of Lisbon, integrating the main global maritime routes connecting the Mediterranean to Northern and Central Europe and facilitating trade with America, the Far East, and Africa, gives it exceptional conditions to host an event of the magnitude of the ABTO Bulk Terminals 2023 annual conferences and ensure their success."
