Paula Sengo, from the Port of Lisbon, elected President of the Technical Committee for Sustainable Development of ESPO

APL (Port of Lisbon Authority) is pleased to announce the election of Paula Sengo, Head of the Studies and Planning Office for the Port of Lisbon, as President of the Sustainable Development Committee of ESPO-European Sea Ports Organization, in representation of Port of Lisbon and APP (Portuguese Ports Association).

With this election, which took place during the ESPO General Assembly in Brussels, APL assumes a relevant leadership role at European level, while also reinforcing the Port of Lisbon's commitment to sustainable practices and the development of strategies for a greener and efficient transition in the port sector. This election is a recognition of the work done by Paula Sengo and her team at the Port of Lisbon, who have focused on the creation of innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of ports.

Parallel to the General Assembly, the ESPO Annual Conference also took place. An event that brought together the main stakeholders of the European port sector to discuss topics such as sustainability, energy transition, digitalization and competitiveness of ports.
During the conference, the ESPO Annual Award was delivered to the Port of Sevilla. This year the prize’s theme was “Circular economy port projects or strategies benefiting the city and the surrounding community”, thus recognizing innovative initiatives that promote the sustainability and well-being of local communities.

Port of Lisbon is a partner in the strengthening of collaboration between the Portuguese and the European ports, with the aim of promoting a more innovative and sustainable sector. This commitment underlines the Portuguese port sector's dedication to contribute to the development of practices and policies that enable a greener and cooperative future for maritime transport and European logistics chains.
