Port of Lisbon at Intermodal São Paulo to strengthen presence in the South American market

The Port of Lisbon is participating in the 28th edition of Intermodal South America, one of the world's largest fairs dedicated to the logistics, ports, and foreign trade sectors, which begins today in São Paulo, Brazil, and runs until March 7th.
As usual, the presence of the Port of Lisbon is integrated into the stand of APP - Association of Ports of Portugal, and includes the presence of the Lisbon Port Community and various stakeholders.
On this first day, March 5th, the promotion of ports begins with the support of AICEP Portugal Global representation in Brazil, at a "Business Networking" event to be held at the Consulate of Portugal in São Paulo, during which the infrastructure and operational services offered by Portuguese ports to Brazilian companies will be promoted.
The Administration of the Port of Lisbon will also participate in the II Congress of Maritime, Port, and Customs Law, in a panel dedicated to Port Work and the exchange of experiences on the evolution of work in different markets.
During Intermodal, the Port of Lisbon and the Port of Santos, Brazil, will sign an agreement aimed at mutual cooperation and the promotion of commercial and institutional dynamics.
The Portuguese group ETE, owner of the Multi-Purpose Terminals of Poço do Bispo and Multipurpose of Lisbon, at the Port of Lisbon, which operates internationally in various markets in South America, after its debut last year, is once again present at the event.
Also returning is Yilport Liscont, which takes advantage of the event to promote the Alcântara Container Terminal. The group's strong investment in modernizing infrastructure to make it more efficient for businesses is already evident, with a growth of 48% in tonnage and 38% in TEUs in 2023, compared to the same period.
Carlos Correia, President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Lisbon, highlights the importance of presence at Intermodal South America: "The Port of Lisbon is a key partner for the South American market, not only for its infrastructure offerings but also for the existing regular lines and the strategic positioning it assumes. Therefore, during these days, we aim to promote our main strengths, strengthen cooperation with port authorities and operators, as well as promote commercial and institutional dynamics for the exchange of best practices among ports in various sectors. Our goal also includes promoting the innovation, digitalization, and blue cluster projects we have in development."
In 2023, the Port of Lisbon handled 4.79 million metric tons of solid bulk cargo, of which 3.8 million tons corresponded to food solid bulk cargo (79%). In this segment, the Brazilian market accounted for 1.082 million tons, equivalent to 28% of food solid bulk cargo and 23% of the total solid bulk cargo handled in 2023.
