New Electric Catamarans from Transtejo Soflusa Unloaded at the Port of Lisbon

This past Saturday, January 27, two electric propulsion catamarans were unloaded at the Port of Lisbon, specifically at the Beato Multi-Purpose Terminal (TMB). The unloading operation was carried out from the vessel "Happy River" directly into the Tagus River, with the supervision of TMB personnel, Transtejo's masters and sailors, and a crew from the Spanish shipbuilding yard.

These acquisitions represent a significant advancement in the modernization of passenger river transport between the two banks of the Tagus.

The catamarans, named "GARÇA-VERMELHA (C-494)" and "FLAMINGO-ROSA (C-495)," were commissioned from the prestigious shipyards ASTILLEROS GONDÁN, S.A. located in Castropol (Asturias), Spain. The ships' propulsion is of the "Battery System" type, based on accumulators and electric motors, with sufficient charging capacity to allow for daily operations at river terminals.

The two catamarans are intended for public river transport operating in Cacilhas and were ordered by TTSL (Transtejo Softlusa). The cargo capacity of the vessels will enable more efficient operations at river terminals, contributing to sustainable mobility in the region.
