Lisbon Port Launches Innovation Program

The Lisbon Port's Blue Economy Innovation Program and the presentation of its initial challenges will kick off on November 20 at the Innovation Day conference held at the Rocha do Conde D’Óbidos Maritime Terminal.
The event is organized by the Lisbon Port Administration (APL) in partnership with the Ocean Forum, and will feature the participation of renowned European ports such as Barcelona, Bilbao, and Rotterdam, sharing their innovation and acceleration initiatives. Other national and international speakers will also share their experiences and pilots in maritime and port sector innovation communities. A discussion on financing innovation in the Blue Economy will take place, with the involvement of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), and Faber Ventures.
The Blue Economy Innovation Program aims to create an innovation ecosystem capable of encouraging and scaling noteworthy technologies in the fields of digitization, decarbonization, intermodality, and circularity within the maritime economy. This program will operate in association with the Hub Azul Dealroom platform, positioned as the world's first business platform for the blue economy.
Carlos Correia, President of the Lisbon Port's Board of Directors, emphasizes, "This is day zero of a journey that aims to open the Lisbon Port to innovation, scientific, and academic communities. It aims to be an 'out-of-the-box' open innovation program that seeks active participation from its stakeholders, both national and international players in entrepreneurship, science, technology, and business ecosystems. The goal is to discuss current and future challenges and find innovative and sustainable solutions that result in positive and impactful outcomes for the Lisbon Port in all dimensions."
