Cruise ships can return to port of Lisbon
The cruise activity is allowed since may 17th in the ports of mainland Portugal, under the terms of specific rules bearing in mind the pandemic situation.
Passengers and crew can embark and disembark, except those whose origin are countries from where only essential travelling is allowed.
For passengers to benefit from this measure, it is necessary to present a negative PCR test, performed within 72 hours prior to the time of embarkation or disembarkation, as the case may be. The proof requirement is not applicable to children under 24 months of age.
In the current context of Disaster Situation, any movement of passengers and crew is subject to prior analysis by the Health authorities and the compliance of the rules is monitored by emigration and security forces.
The Lisbon Cruise Terminal operator, the LCP, together with the Health Authority and port of Lisbon Authority, has a health and safety Protocol in place, which will be reviewed by the authorities involved whenever necessary, ensuring all conditions to resume full operation of the Port of Lisbon in maximum security conditions.
This protocol will work in full articulation with those from the cruise companies and all the entities that intervene in the operation of the ship. The cruise companies and the Governments / Health and Ports authorities of the various European countries have been working together in the elaboration of health and safety protocols with a view to resume activity, with the definition of very strict procedures to control the spread of the virus, both for ships and the ports/terminals.
