Atlantic Region - The New Region of MedCruise

MedCruise members voted today in favor of creating a new region, the Atlantic Region, opening a new chapter in the Association's history. The creation of the Atlantic Region is the result of work led over several years by Portuguese ports, culminating in recognition by both the MedCruise board members and the other members of the importance this region represents for all those within the association. Essential to this result was the work carried out by the Working Group created within MedCruise and led by the ports of Lisbon and Madeira, which over the last eight months demonstrated the importance of the region in strengthening the association. The vote took place during the 64th General Assembly of MedCruise, held in Tarragona, Spain, with the proposal receiving overwhelming approval: 43 votes in favor out of a total of 54 ports voting. The Atlantic Region encompasses 11 ports in 3 countries (Leixões, Lisbon, Portimão, Madeira, and the Azores (Portugal), Cadiz, Huelva, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Puertos Canarios (Spain), and ports in Cape Verde).

The event, which takes place from June 11 to 14, brings together its members and various stakeholders in the cruise industry on the same stage in an environment conducive to the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of partnerships. The program includes business meetings (B2B), presentations, and conferences. These sessions address emerging issues and new challenges for the cruise activity, seeking to strengthen business relationships and identify best practices to meet the current and future needs of the sector.

MedCruise, which already represents 76 cruise ports in the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Red Sea, Adriatic Sea, and now in the Atlantic region, continues to promote the development of the cruise industry and facilitate cooperation among its members. With this new configuration, the association is even better prepared to lead the cruise industry towards a future of expansion and innovation.
