APL promotes the Port of Lisbon Regatta
On 1 November the Port of Lisbon promoted the Port of Lisbon Regatta 2007, the most popular and called for nautical event to take place on the waters of the River Tagus. This edition united more than 60 boats from various classes.
Organized by the Naval Association of Lisbon, this annual event has taken place for more than 30 years and is part of the commemorations of “Port of Lisbon Day”. The 2007 edition of the Regatta included the classes ANC (division A + E, B e D) and ORC 450, ORD 610 and ORC 645, including approximately 500 crew members.
The winners by class were as follows: class ANC DIV A + E – Miguel Arriaga e Cunha skipper of Gold Fin; class ANC DIV B - Leonel Carvalho, skipper of Ventosga and, from class ANC – DIV D was Francisco Rodrigues, skipper of Voga.
In the ORC 450 João Paulo Nunes was the winner with his boat MATRIX, whilst António Fernandes won the ORC 610 aboard the Contrastes and Eduardo Marques won in the ORC 645 with the Carioca.
The award ceremony took place in the Gare Marítima da Rocha Conde de Óbidos and those present included Daniel Esaguy, Administrator of the Port of Lisbon, Nuno Gonçalves Henriques and Nuno Pedreño Ferreira from the Naval Association of Lisbon. The winners were awarded discounts on moorings in the various docks and additionally a draw took place for two moorings, one for one year and the other for six months.
The Port of Lisbon maintains the tradition of promoting this commemorative regatta for the “Port of Lisbon Day”, demonstrating once more, that it supports varied leisure activities, experienced in different ways, experienced next to the river.
